On Jan. 20, 2024 William and Elda Winward will celebrate their 70th anniversary.
William will turn 90 years old on Jan. 31, 2024 and Elda on Dec. 10, 2024. When they married in 1954, the nation was at war; older men were sent on missions while younger men were drafted. It didn’t look like William would be able to serve a mission so the couple married. Shortly after they wed, Bill was called to the West Central States Mission; Elda worked at First Security Bank in Preston supporting him while he served.
William and Elda made their home in Clifton where they raised cows, horses, pigs, chickens and six children. At one time they had the second largest modern-indoor dairy in southeast Idaho. Bill was awarded Farm Family of the Year. Elda was an amazing homemaker and later worked at the post office, then for West Side School District as a cook, secretary and librarian.
There is much more history. What their children are most proud of is the way they have cared for their family and the community. They have always looked for ways they can help others.
We love you forever, mom and dad! Keep those wedding anniversaries coming. LMKCBK
